Yes on 8?

One of my friends had posted "Yes on 8" (Prop. 8 is for abolishing gay marriage) on his Facebook account status. People commented on his status displaying similar and different views to his. Mainly the opposition (both Christian and non-Christian) came with attacks at the originally Judeo-Christian teaching of homosexual relations being wrong. After reading the comments that were posted I wanted to display my own view on the topic:

*Note: It is easy to generalize all Christians into a category as those who display hateful signs to gays as Westboro Baptist Church does, and it is also very easy to generalize all gays into categories as well. We must recognize that people are all individual and made unique, and not generalize. :)

Firstly, lets look at the differences between what those who support gay marriage say, what statistics say, and what the Bible and Bible believing Christians say about homosexual relations/marriage:

Biblical views:
  • It is wrong to have sexual relations man with man (Lev 18:22)
  • It is punishable by death (Lev 20:13)
  • It is unnatural (not born with the desire) for men and women, lustful (sensual desire and sinful), and indecent (Rom 1:26-27)
  • It is not permissible in the kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:9-10)
  • It is your choice

Supporter of gay marriage:

  • There is nothing wrong with it
  • You are naturally (born) that way.
  • It is part of your identity
  • You are made that way.
  • If Christianity says to "love your neighbor as yourself" then you sin in denying a person the right to love someone even if they are of the same sex.

Statistics:

  • 78% percent of gays have an STD
  • 50% have gonorrhea
  • Less than 3% of the gay community is over 55 and a little less than one percent of that 3% die of natural causes
  • 23% are more likely to have an STD than a hetero-sexual person
  • A homo-sexual male's life expectancy is 20 years shorter than that of a hetero-sexual male (Worse than cigarettes)

Let's address how one who supports gay marriage views this.

One in favor of homosexual relations would state that someone who is gay is born with the desire to have sexual relations with another person of the same sex-- it's a part of who they are and they have no control over it ,like a bird has no control of if it grows feathers or not. However, in order for this to be true, there needs to be a gene that would make this happen. If this gene does not exist then that means that homosexuality is not natural and it is a choice that elicits a person's sexual orientation.

We need to look at how and why a person would come to be homo/bisexual then.

Firstly, the success or failure of one's home affects all behavior, but mainly sexuality. Children love and desire touch-they long for the affection of loving parents. Consider this: If a child is neglected in this area he/she will never learn how to react to any sort of affection properly. When older they will still desire the affection of a father or mother that they had never received, and therefore look for it in another person (perhaps another in the same situation and one of the same sex) and accept it and react radically on the first hint of it they get (perhaps by claiming to be "in love"). Also, in a broken home there is a lack of an intimate love relationship between the two parents (man and woman). If the child never sees and observes a marriage the way God intends it to be then that image is free to be distorted because they do not know what love is to look like. And if that child's image of marriage is still unclear and they see the romantic affection in homosexual couples they may automatically accept that as good and right.

Now lets take a look at the topic in a biblical perspective.

The Bible clearly labels homosexuality as sinful (Lev 18:22; 20:13; Rom 1:26-27; 1Cor 6:9-10). Marriage was originally designed for one man and one woman, as with Adam and Eve. It was not designed for one man and one man or one woman and one woman. Why? Because He loves us. Take the ultimate and intended example of marriage, Christ and the Church ,the Bride of Christ. The Bible tells men how to love there wives in Ephesians 5:28-29,33. It tells us to love them as Christ loved the Church (even to death Rom 5:7-8; John 3:16), and as our own bodies. In other words, to protect them from any kind of harm and provide for everything need, even if it means our death. God loves us enough to give us commandments to live our lives by so that we would not have to endure the consequences of what they forbid. (He also gives us the Holy Spirit to help us live our lives according to it, seeing as we are sinners and we are going to fail with out Him (Rom 3:23; Zech 4:6)). If you take a look at the statistics listed above you will find that homosexuality is not good for you. It is not a healthy alternative to a man and woman love relationship. It should not even be considered as an alternative because it is so bad for you! It is even noted as worse than smoking cigarettes (A.K.A. Cancer-sticks)! If God had not warned us to not live this way then we would be in a grave, grave situation. Also, if you research the health benefits of a hetero-sexual marriage you will find that it is quite contrary to a homo-sexual one. It is actually beneficial to your health! God's law and design is perfect!

Some of those in favor of gay marriage also used scripture to back up their beliefs: "Love your neighbor as yourself". Answer me this, would you be loving your neighbor as yourself if you simply watched them have the very sinful behavior that could lead to a crippling of their health and ultimately to their death?

My point is clear. Yes on prop. 8. :]

Gathering!

Hey everyone, sorry for not posting for the past millennium. A little update about what's up with me:

First, some of you may know that I have been doing The Gathering. If you don't know what it is, it's a pretty sweet deal. Every Monday at DP we meet in coach Zamora's room (H-3). The main vision is for kids (me in included) to grow in their relationships with our beloved savior Jesus Christ. So far we've met twice (Sorry everyone for the delay in getting it started. There was confusion on what I was supposed to do...) and it's been rad. Thanks for all of you who have been coming.

Second, I learned how to do a cart-wheel.

Third, I actually didn't learn how to do a cart-wheel because I've actually been able to for my whole life... Since conception. Don't ask questions.

That's pretty much it as of now...

Prayer requests:
  • Pray for my strength.

  • For me to keep Him the center.

  • That the Lord would do a mighty work and that He would move in the hearts of the kids at The Gathering and inspire true, undefiled worship.

Thanks for reading!

I lied...

I can't give up blogging. It's irresistable when I try to resist....

Anyways!

Gap Fire. This thing is ridiculous. Many of my close friends are on evacuation warning and many have been already evacuated. Please pray for rain, pray for strength for fire fighters, pray for safety of homes and people.

Gmail

I now have a new Gmail account, and I must say that Google has done a profound job at creating an email system that's neat, and easy to use. I also feel like I'm part of the new age in advanced technology now that I have one.

P.s. Go get yourself a G-mail account.

I've made my decision...

Seeing as I broke my "G" string on the guitar I was hoping to electrify, I will no longer be electrifying it... Instead, I will be buying a new set of Elixer strings. However, I will have money left over from this. SO, I am going to be strict with myself and I will, in the words of the great Captain Jack Sparrow, "wait for the opportune moment" to spend it...

Decisions.

It is a rare occurance when I have more than $.76 in my bank account. Currently, I have $205. I'm debating whether or not to get my guitar electrified, or by a camera.
*Note that with a camera I will be able to post video and pictures.
If you've got a word of wisdom to send my way concerning this matter, send it on over. Thanks.
:]

Chaos in my noodle...

I lost my stinkin tuner... Shoot... I have pretty melodies in my noggin and my guitar doesn't sound so pretty... I need to learn how to tune by ear... And since I have no tuner at the current moment, I'm blogging (the hobby I seem to have difficulty keeping up on). I'll give you an overview of my life. Why? Because I feel like it and it's my blog.
  1. I'm dating the most amazing person in the world.
  2. I went to el worshipo conferenco with my bretheren and sisteren and got juiced up on Jesus.
  3. I had a birthday. I shared it with Juan. I liked it.
  4. It's Friday.
  5. I'm tired.

Thanks for tuning in readers.

You bring tears of joy to my eyes. :']

I love you all.

Much More Than Soup...

Cup Noodles
Greatest food known to man... besides potatos.

It clearly is "much more than soup" with it's 13g's of total fat (20% of your daily value), 1060mg's of sodium (44% of your daily value), 38g's of total carbohydrates (13% of your daily value), and 6g's of protien (daily values based on a 2000 calorie diet). But not only that, it gives you the satisfaction of soup in only 3 minutes! It comes in several flavors such as chicken noodle or beef as well. This truly is "Much more that soup"... Too often am I rescued from midnight starvation by this marvelous meal. I shall no longer take them for granted.

I'm off to make one of my own... 3 minutes till the sodium is bursting out of my ears...

Easter Services...

Well, firstly, the free event/concert featuring the "Kantinas", hosted by Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara was phenomenal (spelling on the word is under question). The bass was so powerful my jaw will surely be sore for weeks due to the incessant blows of their kick drum and 5 string bass combined. They straight held it down. The events themselves sent people away with iPods (2 nano's and 1 classic 80-gig), low rider bikes, and an X-Box 360. But many people left with something much, much, greater. Eternal salvation. After a brief message many people came to the front of the crowd to accept and declare Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. Praise God.

:]

Tommorow morning:

Calvary Chapel Easter Service- 9:30 am @ Santa Barbara Court House
Reality Carpenteria Easter Service- 10 am @ Carpenetria Highschool

Be there. You'll be changed forever...

Who says it's not solved?

Happy Good Friday!

Good friday is known as the day that Jesus Christ bled and died to remove the sin of all man kind, to give us direct access to God, and guarentee us eternal life (We must believe first, of course, that He came, died on the cross. and rose again on the third day for the sin of mankind) on the cross. And since it is the Easter time of year, we should recognize that that is what it is all about (that He came died and rose again). Soooooo, I would suggest that you get to the nearest video store and rent The Passion of the Christ, Directed by Mel Gibson, and then watch it. If you haven't seen it or for that matter even heard of the movie, I would first: realize what it's about (It's about the the story of the Cross). And prepare yourself!!! It is a gnarly movie.

Happy Easter weekend. :]

If you take my advice I'd even prepare for the flowing of tears.

To whom it may concern...

The last post that was posted on Wednesday, January 30th 2008, hopefully confounded many of my dear sweet readers (meaning the two people who actually read this). I, in my generousity, have decided to give you peace about what this last post meant to those of you who have not figured it out. Here it is: The blog's subtitle is: My random rantings and ramblings to appease my boredom... So that's exactly what that post was. Random rantings and ramblings. So however random it seems, it does have logic and reason behind it, which of course means: I'm not entirely as crazy as you think/

In Response to "Procrastination"

That was straight foolishness. I should've done it earlier. I got a 98 % on that thing!!! But because it was late, I got an 88%!!!

"Procrastination is the thief of time"
-J. Oswald Sanders
I think it's also the thief of good grades. And plus super heros that show up late suck. What's the point of even having them if all they do is show up late?

Spinning Chairs, Movement, Stairs, Etc...

I have discovered that we are no longer moved by the world. WE move the world. I went under a series of observations that involved walking, spinning chairs, and other objects to prove this. In my observations I have discovered that with ever step or movement we make against the earth, we turn it. Next time you decide to walk, try and move the world with all your might. I'm 18% sure it works.

=]

In the same way (not really because that'd be absolutly ridiculous if we could move the world), we are not moved by the world, but we move it. More over, God moves it. Don't be of the world. Because we are not of it. :D

Well, I guess I got tagged...

So here goes:
  1. I've secretly quit skateboarding... I think.
  2. I had the money for my dreads TWICE but something (fiesta and my lack of self control) happened.
  3. Iwhen m laughed y mom told me that she saw a bird fly into a starbucks window... it died. =[
  4. I've moved 4 times in the past two years- CO to CA, CA to CA, CA to CA, CA to CA. Ummm... Something there doesn't make sense...
  5. Sometimes I feel like a robot.
  6. I have water machine thing and I sometimes drink two to three glasses and fill up one more at a time just to hear the "glug-glug" noise it makes.
  7. I often find myslef walking in circles with a diameter of about 3 and 1/2 feet

Ha. That was harder than I thought... I had at least fifty things people didn't know about me... and when I put down number one, I forgot 'em all! Haha. Oh, and I guess I tag you, oh beloved one and only reader. =]

Rain

Is a bully.
Constantly beating down on me
When I'm trying to walk home
And getting all my clothes dirty.
With all those cars speeding by
Not knowing they might just die
All because of rain, rain, rain...

So Sick...

That phrase can describe this weekend in two different ways: Sick, as in amazing. And sick, as in ill. How you ask? Well my dear friend, I will answer that with another question: How amazing is our God, our Abba Father, our redeemer, our friend, our saviour, our creator? He was there and it was super sweet. He gave us sweet messages, and good fellowship. He redeemed us, and He re-filled us. He gave us victory over sin death and the enemy.

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony they did not love their lives to the death."
-Revelations 12:11

And we got some sweet sweaters. =]

I have a cold.

Something Missing?

Richard Cory

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich - yes, richer than a king -
And admirably schooled in every grace;
In fine we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

-- Edwin Arlington Robinson

Richard Cory seemed to have it all. But apparently, something was missing. He needed something to pull him through life and make it out on the other end feeling alive. But He couldn't find it.

  • Revelations 3:20

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

He's found you. You know where He is. So open the door! He'll pull you through the hard times.

  • Zecharaiah 4:6

"...not by might or by strenght, but my spirit, declares the Lord Almighty"

Here the Lord was speaking to Zerubbabel about the work that was set before him that was too much for him to handle on his own. The Lord offers His love, strength, mercy, and grace. Can you open your door?

Study notes

Genesis 45:5 & 7

"... Because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you... 7God sent me ahead of you to save your lives by a great deliverance."

  • In the Bible, alot of foreshadowing is used. And I think that these verses here use some. Just look at John 3:16:

For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

In Genesis 45:5, it says: "God sent me ahead of you...", which can go along with: "He gave his only begotten son...", from 3:16

Where it says, In 45:7: "... to save your lives by a great deliverance.", that can be compared to what it says in 3:16. That entire verse in fact, speaks of a great deliverance of the people from the consequences of their sins (Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death...").

So? What does this verse in Genesis mean?

  1. Questions come up like:
  • What did we need rescuing from?
  • Who was Joseph foreshadowing?
  • What are we being rescued into?

Lets now turn to the second question (we'll get to the first later)

  • Who is Joseph? What is significant about Him?
  1. He was the lord over alot of land
  2. He was the cheif adviser of the pharoh
  3. In this verse it says he was one sent ahead to save lives in a great way.
  • How is Jesus like that?
  1. He is Lord over all things
  2. He is at the right hand of God
  3. He was sent to save the world from the sins by dying in the horrible and gruesome story of the cross

Lets focus now on the first question asked: What did we need rescuing from? And why?

    • Eternal damnation is what we need saving from. Or in other words, rescuing from hell.

    • What is hell? Hell is known as the lake of fire, the second death, the blackest darkness, a place of weeping and nashing of teeth, a place of loneliness and sorrow and suffering. Doesn't sound alot like the retirement plan you'd want after you die, huh?

Now, onto the final question:

  1. 1 John 2:25 says this

"And He Himself has promised us this: eternal life."

No matter what, we will have a tomorrow, or an afterlife. It's up to us though, on whether or not it's in heaven or hell. We know what hell looks like, but heaven?

  • Rev 21: 3 says it clearly.

"...I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them."

But now we wonder, what does that look like?

  • Rev 21:5-6

"He who was seated on the throne said, "5I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. 6He said to me: "it is done. I am the Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life."

  • Then in verses 9-27 then go deeper into what there is. A city made of pure gold shining with the glory of God, surrounded by walls 200 ft. thick, made of jasper 1400 miles long, tall, and wide. A city that doesn't need a sun, or lights because Jesus is the light. It's gates made of pearl never are closed, yet still keeping impure and evil things and people who are impure and do things shameful and deceitful out, thus making the city absolutely perfect in every single way imaginable way possible.

Belated New Years

This is going to be a good year. I know it. The Lord does good things through those whom are faithful.

Speaking of New Years, I knew I needed to have a resolution. And so the pondering began.
4 days later, self control entered into my resolution category.

What are your resolutions???

Catch Up

I'm not sure why you would read this blog. I sure know I'm not so great. But by the power invested in me by the Holy Spirit... I'm going to blog my butt off.

Any way. Review over the last 3 weeks.
